Sounds like you've been to a seminar or two. There are a few guys out there giving seminars knocking certain chemicals. Coincidentally, those chemicals usually are NOT in the products those guys push.
Several of our products are traditional wax formulas. They may have both silicone and petroleum distillates, in addition to the wax, maybe abrasives, or other chemicals.
Wax products usually have petroleum distillates as a carrier for the other ingredients. This isn't a bad thing. There are thousands of petroleum distillates out there--everything from asphalt to baby oil. The distillates typically used for waxes are lighter in nature and quickly evaporate from the surface. We have a great article about distillates on our website: http://www.protectall.com/artmyths.htm.
Many waxes have silicones. Silicones are another misunderstood ingredient. We also have an article on silicones: http://www.protectall.com/artsilicones.htm.
As far as we are concerned, Teflon is a great buzzword to have on your label. The costs, to us, far outweigh the benefits to the consumer.
